97 bonny eng. vin k series 2 fuel sender problem please help
hi guys how are you. ? my fuel sending unit has 2 metal tabs that rub up against the plate to sent the signal to the fuel gauge, how ever the tabs were worn and i couldnt replace just the tab because the whole unit was rusted away. baught three new ones and they all only have one metal tab. i installed one and the gas gauge imediatetly went out "E" and stayed there, all the parts stores are swearing that this is the right one for this car. i heard someting about putting a resistor on the sender. is this possible or any suggestions? plz help

PopaDopaDo
True Car Nut
The one from Napa appears to have two connectors on the sending unit.

I am completely confused as to what you are trying to convey. did you replace the whole sender? or just some part of it?
when i got my 97' the sender was shot, i replaced it with a unit from advance auto, working excellent 11,000mi later

Is it possible that you forgot to plug something in? my only other suggestion would be to take the unit back out put a multimeter on the sending unit wires and move the float up and down and see if the value changes, thats how I tested mine before I put it in,
