the lever to open the glovebox broke on my 1993 SE, and I need to know if the lock keyway is key specific, or if any latch/lock assembly will do.

i would assume that its key specific, but dont quote me on it. go to a junk yard and find out is my advice.

I would think that is a Dealer issue, but you could easily get another one at the Junk yard and add the key for that lock to your key ring.

Yes, they are key specific.

Nice thing is since you have the old one, you can get a new box and swap the key cylinder over to retain your current lock.

I need to know how to remove the cylinder then. I dont know how to get it off.

Oh they are still sleeping and I'm at work.. By noonish you should have an answer. I think it'* probably a simple slide clip. Usually not much to them.

To remove the lock cylinder, insert the key and turn it as far as it can go to the left (counterclockwise) and then press-in the metal tab on the back (for example, using a small screwdriver) to release the internal latch mechanism and then turn the key a little more to the left and pull it out.

Beat me. :( Funny thing is I have the 95'* apart right now. But I don't think you need pics.
