gears missing *final update*
Bill, the 'tube' that runs inside the radiator simply has water/coolant mix circulating around it. It'* actually a tube within a tube (I've seen a cutaway of one). The trans fluid flows between the two tubes (between the outer wall of one and the inner wall of the bigger one). Coolant flows around and through it.

update.
well my local COMPITENT mechanic checked out the tranny. the TC failed. im not sure whether it was cuz the part was crappy or because of heat or sumthing else. but it ruined the rest of the transmission. so it has been rebuilt and is being reinstalled today and will be ready tomorrow.

Make sure that they bypass the internal radiator cooler or flush it to determine that it will have good flow... Being that this is going to be your sisters car, please install a small cooler to help her avoid problems in the future
