Look for RPO code:

F79 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 2.97
On both cars. Yours will have it. If the donor car does also, and is a 96, I can't imagine it not being compatible. I suggest going to www.car-part.com and running a search for the DONOR car, and see if it returns transmissions from Bonnevilles in the search results.

For the record, 4T60 L67'* get 2.97, 65'* get 2.93.

Thats where I have a problem...the guy I'm buying it from does not have that. He took it out for speaker box. And I don't think he has it anymore. I'll have to contact him and ask. Checking car-part right now. thanks.

Does he have the VIN of the car it came out of? If so, you could have the dealership run the list of RPO codes associated with that VIN.

I just did too. Looks like the PA got all 3 common axle ratios we did, and the Ultra is indeed the same ratio, as well as compatible.

That website is notoriously accurate and dependable on cross-referencing compatible parts, and has Bville transmissions listed for compatible for an LSS, Ultra, and Bville.

FYI, my local price ranges are from $245 to $750, including one right here in town certified and warranteed for 90 days for $400.

Good luck!

Betcha ten bucks that sucker crapped a diff and launched it through the case, or cracked the output housing and they don't even know it.

You're good to go on that Ultra trans. What'* the price?
