Is this what I get for being a good Samaritan?

The day after the hurricane hit us, I gave someone in a Toyota a jump start. It took a few cranks on their end, but the other engine came back to life. He disconnected his cables and left.

Now, here'* the thing: sometimes, when I'm in first gear, moving forward with my foot off the pedals, the car stalls. It doesn't die like flipping a switch, but there'* just enough time to see and hear the RPM'* drop down to zero as it dies (or press the gas to save it). Re-starts quickly.

I haven't noticed any other electrical issues, like a low voltmeter or slow cranking.

Hmm... my guess would be you may have damaged one of your sensors while jump starting him, or perhaps just a fluke it went out at the same time. One of the gear heads should know which sensor causes those symptoms.

Sounds more or less like a fluke. You should check your fuel pressure regulator to make sure its not leaking. If it does have something to do with the jump, it could be the crankshaft position sensor.

I'm thinking it may be a fluke. It'* behaving much better ever since I filled the gas tank this morning. The FPR is new, so I suppose I'll go find a fuel pressure tester. It wouldn't surprise me if the pump'* finally hit retirement age.

That it is. I last pressure-checked it years ago and it was on the low side of normal. Think it'* worth changing the fuel filter first? The current one has only one year/45,000 miles on it.

If it ends up being the pump, do you know if I need to order tank straps or other accessories, gaskets, and whatnot?

first off make sure you only have 1/8th tank of gas in it lol

i dont really think youll need anything other than the pump and a filter

Retighten your battery cables. And if you haven't replaced them yet..

Smack yourself.
