fuel line leak
 

well i looked at it today becuase i could smell gas and its leaking from the steel line where it go into the plastic part of the line and i was wonder would they have to drop the gas tank to change it or is the a place in the back seat where they can reach it?

You're gonna have to drop the tank.

no worries, it should be a $10 job, and a couple hours on a weekend in your driveway.

make sure you try to get the tank as low on fuel as possible without burning out the pump. 1-2 gallons is much lighter than 5-6 gallons ;)

The hardest part of the whole job is getting the strap bolts to break loose without breaking the captive nut or bolt. Soak the bolts in advance with some PB Blaster

well thats what we were going to do becuase my bros dad works on cars and we were just going to do it to save money. Good thing i had him look at it though because you can smell gas. :? its hard not to want to go drive it but i don't want to walk ethier

Where is the leak located? On the fuel filter side of the plastic lines or the metal lines above the tank where you can't see them.?

Depending on the location where the car has spent most of it's time, you may or may not have trouble removing the plastic lines from the metal. Those connectors and o rings can be quite tough or very easy to disconnect. The plastic lines are dealer only parts.

its leaking where the metal meets the plastic. He said thats its starting to rust

Ok.. well... if it's visible then most likely it's right by the fuel filter and the tank wouldn't need to come out to replace the line or a part of the line.

The lines are not visible on top of the tank.
