Default Fuel Injectors

Hi, I have 88 Bonneville LE, and I just pulled out the fuel injectors, they're like blacker than words can describe, so I cleaned them up with degreaser, carb cleaner spray, and scrubbed them with a toothbrush, now I have them submerged in a bowl of fuel injection/carb cleaner for about 2 hours. Is it okay to leave them in it at all, and if so would it cause any damage to it? I also lost track to which injector goes into which hole, would that make a difference, and also there are these clips, adjacent to the o-rings on the injectors, I think they're called c clips, but they're like all brittle and broke off as I pulled the injectors out, and one of them happened to fall into the intake manifold. Would that cause any problems? Or would it just disengrate? Thanks for anyhelp.

Probably not.

Err......yes. The TPI system in the 3800s is sequential and is made up of 1 injector per cylinder with a firing circuit for each injector individually. So you can't mix them up!

I would remove the intake manifold, and get it out. You do not want that getting sucked into a cylinder, which it probably will if you leave it in there.

Good luck...

The Fuel Injectors are all the same so doesn't matter which one goes where. As to type though they're different between the 2 engines. The 88 3.8 - 3 has a m/port injector (P/N 25531467). The 88 3.8 - C has a m/port injector (P/N 25531465). The SFI injectors started in the 92 3800.
