Fuel Guage issue--99
My 99 Bonneville has an eratic fuel guage issue when the tank is completely full. It will jump to empty and sit there for about 45 seconds, then return to full. I searched the tech info posts regarding the issue on the 92-93 SSE and SSEi and my issue is completely the same. Is this a known issue on the SE model? If so, is the fix the same with the 2k ohm resistor?

Disconnect the fuel tank unit connector.
Use a multimeter on ohm scale (resistance)
Place leads on A and D connections.
Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
Tester resistance dials to 40 ohms (EMPTY).
Tester resistance dials to 248 ohms (FULL).
If this only happens when full and no other time it is not a wiring issue but a sender one. There is no easy way to correct this and does require droping the fuel tank to replace.
