I have a 1994 sse bonniville with 212,000 miles i had it about 2 years never changed the fuel filter ,How to i know i need to change it what do i look for also it has a rough idle

the fuel filter will be located right in front of the rear passenger wheel....take a few days and hit it with PB blaster and give it a few days cause its prolly rusted

I'm not to sure on signs that would point in the direction of the filter needing to be changed. But for $10 or so it costs it is a good idea to change it if you unsure when it was changed last. Just like 1993 SLE said make sure you keep that thing hosed down with something like PB blaster for a few days before you attempt to change it.

That location is incorrect. The fuel filter on a 94 is under your RF passenger footwell, inside the frame rail just behind the power steering rack.

Pat, you gave him the location for the Series 2. PB blaster is also not needed as there are no threaded fittings. It'* a quick-release style just like at the fuel tank and the fuel rail. You need needlenose pliers to release the lines, and a 10mm socket to release the clamp.
Pat, this description is also EXACTLY what YOUR CAR has.

PB Blaster is a SOLVENT. If you don't know what types of plastic it'* safe on, I wouldn't suggest spraying it on plastic fuel line quick release clamps.

If you don't know when it was changed, change it.

Will, Pat is right. I changed the filter on a 94 SE a few months ago and the fuel filter was located where he described it.



Wish I had a zoomed out shot, but that is what it looks like installed. I didn't use PB blaster, but I used a flare nut wrench to turn the whole filter rather than the fitting since it was made of such soft metal.

My 95 is located exactly where my 93 is. I just changed it in August. See that quick-release fitting? Do NOT get PB blaster on it. Unless you know the possible reaction already.

If I'm wrong, my humble apologies to Pat, but I know from personal experience my 93, Jseaberts 93SSE, and my 95 are all the same location.

Did the L27 change in 94 before the debut of the L36 motor? Can we get some 94 and 95 L27, L36, and L67 owners to state their filter location as either front or rear?

WTF? I knew the later cars were there, but my 93 AND 95 are 3' farther forward, with TWO plastic tabbed releases.

Heh, probably depends on who was installing fuel filters that day. With how crazy some of these cars are optioned...
