OD lock up and trans fluid
So today on the way to work my trans lost ODon the highway..
The trans temp was around 185 so it wasn't in limp mode or anything.
Checked codes when I got to work and it was torque converter clutch failure.
Makes sence.
At lunch I unplugged my PCM for a min to reset the codes, took it for a few mile highway drive and it locked up fine. It also locked up fine on the way home.
Now I'm trying to squeeze as much life out of this trans as possible..
So, would fresh trans fluid/filter do anything to help TTC lock up?
I know it'* time for a new trans but I would just like to know if it could help.

It might help...
What was the code?
Sounds like the PCM is seeing more slip than it wants to..
Mike I think you are making MO POWAH than that trans can handle
Couldn't hurt to pull the pan and replace the filter...

I think you are going to buy a trans sooner than you want... Do I smell a performance rebuild in the near future?

3k stall, 3.29 (If i go with 4t65 HD parts), 3.33, or 3.43 final drive, possibly an 11 vane pump, still deciding on clutches, trans go kit, some sonnax parts, and some other goodies. I <3 sinking all my money into my car. Ramen noodles and Top Pop anyone?

When my 2nd gear clutches started mucking up my fluid, the TCC lockup was failing about half the time. If it didn't lock up, I'd pop it in Neutral, turn it off, wait a couple seconds, start it, shift into D, and it would lock up.
Try that. Then go change or flush the fluid. It bought me time.

In my old 1994 SLE I used the same technique as Will, but I had to use Cruise Control to adjust the speed, up or down, or it would drop out of TCC Lock Up.
Towards the end I found I could leave it in gear and quick cycle the key off and back on for the same effect.
Good luck with saving what you have until you are ready for a new unit, but be rest assured that would never happen, at least not with my luck.
