Ok an update on this. I drove from work to the dealer about 20mins. picked up the new BCS and installed it before I left. All the way home the car had much more midrange power, and I never heard it retard.... Until I got about 1min from the house I gave it about 1/2 throttle and I heard the wine back off !! I was not scanning at the time but I know the sound and I will be doing more testing over the next few days. Man I hate KR!!

PeterG and Hans are probably your best resources on this issue. And it may very well be the pcm.

You can not hear most KR. If you aren't scanning, please don't assume you don't have KR.

I'm gonna have to agree that KR above a certain point can be felt. When I had it, SC tone would change and it just felt held back.

That is exactly what I am talking about. The pitch changes and the car instead of speeding up it kinda just hangs there. I will be scanning when I leave work. I may try replacing the BCA and see if that is it. I PM'd McGrath to see if he still has one. This problem usually rears it'* ugly head when I am in a higher gear like 2nd or 3rd and giving about 50% throttle. It rarely ever if at all does it from a stop :? .

It sounds so familiar to what mine did too, even the "not from a stop, but in higher gears" thing. I always figured it was a fueling thing. It only happened a few times after I swapped the engine, and hasn't recurred since I ditched the mini-AFC for a AFPR.

And a Series II BCA and Series I BCA are different. I doubt it'* the problem though.

I am not sure what a mini-AFC or AFPR are. Is it an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator? Where do I get one of those?

Oh by the way this was doing this since I got the car before any mods.

Air-Fuel Controller and Adjustable fuel pressure regulator. You shouldn't need the AFC, and the AFPR would be hard to find anymore because the company that was making them for us stopped. Have you had the fuel pressure tested? You could try a regulator from a Series II L67 from a junkyard to see what happens. Test the pressure with it in to ensure that is is a good part.

And a 2.2 pulley might be too small for it currently.

Ooh, if you can get it scanned while driving, what does the integrator (Short term fuel trim) do when this happens?

I will post back when I get some results with the scanner. My fuel pressure was at 44. Is there any other fuel numbers I should look at in the scanner. I am still learning how to read it and what to look for.
