Default Few questions

I noticed there were problems with transmission lines popping off at the crimps. Mine are leaking at the crimps and I am afraid they are going to burst and start a fire. Can I remove the crimps and double clamp them, or just replace the lines and if so, what'* the part number? Thanks.

Also - I have a odd burning smell coming from near my front EM. It'* a burning popcorn smell and its only noticeable right by the manifold. Is there a possiblility of cracks in them? The smell is present only when its running.

We need to know WHICH lines specifically you're after. From the what to what? Trans to rubber hose, or rubber hose to radiator? Upper or lower?

Replace them with OEM components ONLY.

The smell may very well be burning trans fluid from your leaks.

(there are MAJOR differences from year to year on these lines, so you have to be as specific as possible, even posting a pic would be a great idea).

Good. Any Moderator or Gearhead should be able to identify the lines form your pics.

Good thing. I'm about to drop from exhaustion.

1993 those were a recall on the recalls for all Bonnevilles and did cause fires as far as what the websites say. But if you do research on your year on the internet, look for recalls for your bonneville and maybe the dealership can help you in replacing them with better lines. If not, just reroute them and replace them yourself with stronger clamps and hoses (steelbraided if possible).

it was 92 and 93 IIRC

i would not suggest to reroute them, but to purchase new OEM from the dealer. they are cheap and good insurance... The trans lines are a part where you dont want them to fail on you, kill your trans or leave you stranded

Here'* a pic, but I doubt they were a part of the recall, since the manufacture date of my bonnie is 2/94.

That'* water in the pic, not fluid. This is a pic of one of the places of where it'* leaking.

And down there

Yes, the oil cooler lines leak too. :(

I is very common to have some slight seepage over years.

Have you cleaned/degreased these and looked for bad seepage issues? I know both my SSEi'* looked like the lines needed to be replaced when I bought them and after a cleaning..all is well to date.

Well, I did clean the lines off one day, started it and the tranny lines around the crimps started forming a drop slooooooowly.
