if you wire the power from the battery to the temp switch directly it can will not shut off with the car. it can come on if there is a hot day and run your battery down to empty. but the fans draw enough so that you do not want to draw your power right out of any of the switched circuits on your car. so the relay allows you to get the proper power from the battery, and allows that to be controlled with minimal power draw from any switched source. because the 86 to 85 control side draws minimal current it will not take very much power away from what ever source you hook it to

I understand what you're saying. So I could wire my power straight from the relay, on the power side. At the moment everything is working great with it wired into the fuse panel under the existing radiator fan/transaxle fuse slot.

Check engine light came on today. I shut
My car off and Noticed the speedometer jumps to 40-50mph and
Goes back down. Very odd. Maybe related to the recent power draw?

Could I use the factory fan relay for what you mentioned?

i dont know if it would cause that or not, the fuse you used also powers the transaxle? do you have a scanner to see what the code is?

the relay would work but i dont know what pins do what on it.
