Well.. at least I don't have to worry about my intake melting :). Mine weights about 20-30lbs, so yes, I am sure it is lighter. Cheaper.. :roll:

mine was a rochester. replaced it with a dorman about 2 weeks ago.

okie dokie. so far we have 4 failed rochesters, and 6 i don't knows.

I believe I have an original Unit on my 98 LTZ L36 with 140k on it. I will check when I get out of work. Bought it at 95k, so that is why I am unsure.

I changed out the original Delphi on my 98 Regal a year ago at 43,000 miles.There was no damage to the manifold from egr heat or otherwise.But the two little oring shaped seals (for the throttle body cooling passages) in both the the big gasket assembly and the throttle body gasket lost compression and were almost flush with the black plastic.I think the egr heat in their vicinity causes them to take a set.The rest of the gaskets had good "springiness " left.A new Dorman with gaskets went back on since a coolant leak was probably coming up soon.

My brother just lost an engine to a failed upper(new design). I replaced it for him about a year ago. It failed on him during a trip to Mississippi( we live in detroit). He noticed it started buring coolant on the way home. Coolant and oil mixed and turned into a gel.
Engine died from main bearing failure due to lack of oil flow. I found thje spot where the intake burned through but i dont have the picture on the web. I can email them to anyone who needs them.[/img][/code]

A friend's 89 year old mother, who lives in Detroit, has a '99 Olds 88 that I found had just started to leak on the outside that I found during one of her trips here. Luckily, it had not gotten into the oil, yet. She had it repaired in Detroit by a service shop, both upper and lowers were done. Prior to that, she had a '95 Olds 88, that also had the problem. She had that work done at the dealer, who screwed it up. The car turned a bearing about 3/4 of the way between here and Detroit. The dealer in that small town worked with us, and GM paid for a new engine for it. That's when she bought the '99. So far, so good with the replacement on this one.
