Ok hear it is, finally the front end is acting up. I just had the alignment done and then went on a trip from California to Canada. LOL yup long drive no stopping. After getting over the mountains and sliding into Oregon I noticed the front end had a bit of a speed wobble. At first I thought it was the alignment. I also noticed a power steering issue. Do you guys think it’* the power steering or both or have any of you experienced this problem? I am going to take it in but I plan to do the work myself. How do I find out what kind of steering unit I have? I have a choice between electronic assisted or plain old power steering. Yes I drove all the way back and by refilling the power steering every once in awhile the shake was kept to a minimum. It works best at 110mph but as long as I stay above 90 its just fine. I have balled out the front passenger tire evenly leaving a treaded area down the middle. Oh by the way the rest of the Bonneville took my extremely abusive drive very well. Loved passing up hill on the passes. I can get a new power steering unit for 96.00US plus my 10% frequent buyer discount. LOL
The car has 145000 miles on it. The engine and tranny are fairly new. The engine is a 1998 and the tranny was new from GM. New brakes freshly done.

You will know if you have power-assist if at around 20mph you notice the steering tighten up. My car also has a slight wobble around 90 mph. I guess thats a good thing, keeps me under the 20 over and lose your license law.

My car shakes when I stop . Changed the tie-rods all of them . Now have to change the discs and pads to be sure it' not that but my tie-rods made me wobble at 50-70 . Now the car shakes at 105 mph nut I think it'* the road or the tires. Might be my wheel balance. But thats whats wrong with mine.BY THE WAY every time I make a right turn It makes sound like bad bearings . Spent 120.00 and 4 hours changing it and it'* still there so I'm going to leave it there till it breaks or till you guys give me a bright idea . Thanks for your ears!
