Default Factory Alarm ????

This is getting really annoying, when I unlock door and open it the alarm goes off, I dont know how to disable it so I just popped the hood and disconnected the battery and reconnected it. Any idea how I can unlock the door without it going off, how to disable it

Also I dont have a keyless entry fob at the moment, I bought one on ebay and it will be here sometime this week.

Did you unlock with the manual lock from the inside, or with the key from the outside? The only way to keep from setting it off under normal circumstances is to use the key, the POWER unlock button, or the fob.

If you use the key in the outside of the door, and it still sounds, you do have a problem. Does it do the same thing from both the driver'* side and passenger side?

I used the key on the outside on both drivers and passenger door. Then when I open the door it goes off. Both doors does this.

I notice this happens with mine, but ONLY when all the doors don't unlock with the key, i.e. all my doors unlock when I unlock the driver'* door with the key. And you can hear a "click" when I unlock the door. But recently, sometimes that "click" doesn't happen, and if I open the driver door, the alarm goes off. I have to turn the key really quick for it to click, or sometimes I wait a second or two and it will click, then I can open the door without the alarm going off. I hope that made sense, but I wonder if this is what yours is doing.

I see, so unless when you unlock it all the doors unlock it goes off, that makes sense sort of. let me try this out tomorrow.

Right. I don't know why all the doors would have to unlock for it not to go off, but I've noticed that if it doesn't make that 'click' it will always go off. It happened to a body shop manager when he was moving my car, and he didn't know what to do so he was driving it around while the alarm was going off (I had told him how to disengage the alarm too )

Yes, the unlock signal has to get back to the RAC module to disable the alarm. That signal comes from the switch in the door lock cylinder. When you turn the key to "unlock" and the signal doesn't make it back to disable the alarm, your power locks are not going to work either.

Does this make sense?

Yes, that makes sense...

More importantly, how do you dis-engage the alarm when it goes off? =)

With your remote

When you get it that is.

I think you have to turn the ignition on, off, and on again or something like that? Anyone remember the reset sequence?

That'* how you disable it, either with the key or the fob. I thought turning on the engine would work too, but apparently not.

You could probably disconnect the alarm if you wanted to.
