Default Evap cleaning

ok so one day about a couple weeks ago I tried to clean out the evap i noticed a slight change in airflow, but not a big difference at all!!!
Im not sure If i did this right or not but heres what I did (if I remember right), i took off the relay cover, then I took off the little motor box that holds in a can shaped fan, there are seven bolts and it is right in the firewall. i sprayed some of the brake clean towards the passenger side and hosed it out, i did this a few times and then put it all back together.
when I got in i noticed it flowed a little better, but it wasnt anything to get excited over.
i was pissed off by then, not to mention the fact it was hot out, so I called the dealership and asked how much it would cost to get the evap. core cleaned out, im sure they got a good laugh out of it and they said that they've never heard of that but they'd do it for $70.
does someone want to let me know if I was doing this the right way or not.

Sounds right to me. Did you let the cleaner soak for awhile before hosing it out? Did you rinse WELL? It'* hard to hit the whole front surface with a hose. I use my finger to guide the stream of water, while watching in there with a flashlight. Mine made a noticeable difference, and so did Jseabert'*. We did them the same day.

It may be that yours just wasn't very dirty.

i didnt let it soak for very long before i rinsed it out, but i did rinse it out good. I'll try it again one of these next few days. I think it was kinda dirty cuz i did see some particles floating around when i rinsed it. but if I do this again and it doesnt do the trick then what do you think it could be?
