Default Engine Sputters When Cold

Lately whenever I start up after i leave my car sitting for awhile, like in the morning, the engine starts but sputters and the check engine light flashes. Then after a couple minutes it will go back to normal and the check engine light goes solid. I read that this means something with the timing. My grandpa has the same problem in his cadillac and he thought it was something with the battery. So i drove across town and had my battery checked and it was low. It shouldn't be that low for driving that far. I ended up getting a new battery, the new one is also bigger it'* a 78 rather than the 75 which was in it. He thought that when the battery cant give enough juice to the computer it messes up everything including the fuel injectors so im waiting for judgment day (tomorrow morning) to see if the problem is solved. If not he thinks it may be the alternator. Any one else had this problem or know what the solution is?

If it was your battery getting low. You need to make sure you drive enough for the computer to learn.

However can't really help much until we know what year and kind of car you have. Please put this information in your signature...like mine.

Check your fuel pressure regulator for a leak into the vacuum supply line.

well i started it up and no more problems. So i guess putting a new battery in worked. The check engine light is still on but it'* always solid. Im guessing it will reset itself after awhile?
