Call a Pontiac dealer and give them your VIN. My 95 SLE/SC doesn't use the same balancer as a 95Buick Rivier Supercharged. Odd huh?

The dealer will tell you which will work for you based on VIN.

Yeah I did that, and they all say the '95 part based on the VIN. Is it possible I got a defective balancer from NAPA and the '94 one is an improvement on that even though it'* still not correct? I'm telling ya, with the 6005277, it ran bad.
What are the chances of there being a better result using an actual GM part. Does NAPA stuff usually work alright?

I can't tell you one way or the other on the NAPA part, but your odds aren't assured in getting the right part with so many possibilities.

I replaced both of my L67 balancers (93 and 95) with OEM AC Delco Balancers with no issues.

Ok, and that'* the part that you would get from GMpartsdirect, #88960264?
If so I might just order that, and see if it improves things and if so, return the '94 NAPA part.

GMPD has no return policy. Think twice if you're not sure about the part.

Sounds like you're having fun as I did during my week-long balancer fiasco. I got the wrong part 3 times. The fourth was finally right. If you have any shake at idle it is the wrong part. And I know the "out-of-balance" feeling you are explaining. I knew right away that something was wrong. It ran OK for the block that I drove with the wrong part on, but I did not drive it past 30mph because I was afraid of damaging something.

I'm shocked a dealer told you the same balancer fits all 92-95 H-bodies. There are major differences from even the 94 and 95 balancer (not to mention NA vs SC cars). I compared when I did mine. Nothing has to be balanced on a new HB, the differences are there for a reason and fit specific year and model cars.

Do you still have the original balancer? It would be nice to have for comparison.

Wish I did, that would solve a lot of guessing. I had a mechanic swap out the original balancer and it was a week or so before we started to suspect the new balancer wasn't right. I called him to see if he had kept the original but he had tossed it already.
