Default Engine oil

For some reason when i was going down a hill, and the oil gauge just went to the red and the car turned off. Is this normal?

well on my 94 there is only a Red for Low, so must be low,

If its did goto Low and shut off you roing to be lucky if it did cut the fule, if not then you might now have some realy bad engine problems

The obvious things need checking.

Was the oil level low?
What approximate incline of a hill were you on?
