Default Engine coolant.. leaking?

Hello,

I've had to completely refill my engine coolant tank twice this month because I opened up the hood and noticed it was bone dry. I'm assuming it'* leaking, but how would I tell the difference between burning it and leaking it?

I just replaced my starter motor a few weeks ago, and it was completely covered in an oily fluid. I suppose it could have been engine coolant. My starter is mounted directly below the engine.

However, my oil level is also low. So how do I determine if I'm leaking engine coolant, oil, both or burning both?

Do you have coolant on the ground? If no, not leaking outside, or only leaking a little. Do you smell a sweet smell? That'* burning coolant. Is it in the engine compartment? If yes, could be leaking on a manifold. If at the tail pipe, your burning it inside the engine. Is your oil milky or foamy? If yes, coolant is in the oil, your leaking inside the engine

My car is parked in a public lot and moved pretty consistently, so I haven't noticed any on the ground. I'm changing the oil this weekend, so I'll see if it'* milky. The whole area by the starter is absolutely filthy though. If something is leaking it'* getting all over the place.
