When i spun a rod bearing in my engine before i replaced it i thought about replacing that bearing but everybody kept telling me that i would have to rebuild the entire engine if i did that, is that true or would it have been possible to just replace the bearing?

if you spun a bearing you would have had to replace the crank shaft and possibly that connecting rod.

Depends on how much damage was done. First time I did it, I purchased a reman crank kit with bearings. It only lasted about 100 miles before it did it again. Of course that could have been my fault too.

If the crank is too badly worn, a new one will be needed. If not, then an oversized bearing should do. A specialized machine shop can do this for you.

Best to find a new short block and swap your top end over.

I figured finding a replacement would be cheaper and after looking at the parts prices, it was.

That happens is our engines will endure a lot right up to the crank and bearings. For some reason they want to be checked, machined and nearly professionally redone from scratch when a bearing goes, including line boring.
