Default ELC compressor

Ok so when i got the car, i noticed there was no fuse for the ELC compressor and i put one in, tried it in the trunk and it clicked on , and then i hit the off button, it clicked off, all was good, so i havent heard it come on or anything since, and the other day i checked the fuse again, and not only did it blow, but it melted the fuse, this is the second fuse its blown, but it melted this one. What coudl be causing this? is my compressor shot? is there a bad wire somewhere? where can i start troubleshooting, my car is sitting kinda low in the back and i plan on getting new just regular struts if i cant get the compressor fixed to see where to go from there. thanx guys

A fuse blowing like that indicates a serious problem. That is a direct short to ground (voltage to ground). Disconnect the connector at the compressor, replace the fuse (ensure fuse is of correct ampacity rating) then turn ign. on. If fuse blows, you have some wiring problems with the supply power to the compressor. If the fuse does not blow, then it is the compressor that is defective. Need a GH with a 92 FSM input here. Thank you kindly.
