Elc
MY 1996 pontiac bonneville elc is not working properly both touring and performance rides are light up. also just purchased brand new compressor but there is no air going to rear shocks? bad elc loose connection what could it be. also disconnected the air cable going to rear strut while compressor was running no air what could the problem be? Inflator timer relay? ELC position E? Elc height sensor?

do you here a click sound when you turn on the elc?
there is a solenoid in your trunk behind the passenger side of the seat. when the system is working right it clicks once when you turn on the compressor at the switch in the trunk. if its bad the compressor will still turn on but will not direct the airflow to the air shocks correctly.
if you need one i may have one to sell you.
Todd.

yes i do hear the click sound in the trunk? is there any way to bypass that solenoid so i can manually fill the rear shocks to keep it up, Its sagging? Ive just purchased a brand new re-manufactured compressor GM also and Ive ran a test with it on and unplugged the airline going to the shock to see if it was gettinmg air and it wasnt.

You have a new compressor and there'* no air coming out of it?
That would point to a compressor issue.
I have a small vac/pressure gauge that goes up to 10psi. I disconnect the solkeniod electrical in the trunk and plug the output from the compressor into the gauge. turn the trunk switch for the air compressor to on and off rather quickly. The gauge should shoot right past 10psi before you can get it back off. Then I leave it there and walk away for 20 minutes. If it holds the air then it'* a good compressor with good check valve.

there is about 4 possible vacuum connections down there. chances are one of your rubber lines just deteriated over time and broke apart.
have you looked at the right rear air shock where the air line connects into it?

I just got an diagnoisis done the other day at one of my local auto garages, they suspected a bad leaking, auto level control pressure limiting valve? -OR- "Check Valve" could possibly be the answer as to why the air shocks werent holding or getting air is this a good possibilty? Or do you think im getting ripped off?

Did you take the Snoop or soapy water to your shock boots, airlines and fittings?
Did you check all your lines for deterioration?
Did you check each shocks air line?
Did you check and see if the rubber boot between the upper and lower section of the shock is intact or deteriorated?
Everyone here wants to help you, but you've got to let us know what you have or have not done before we can really narrow it down to one or two probabilities.
