Optima and Exide Orbital battery will not work in my old Regal because the large washer fluid tank will not fit over the top post terminals.
I thought there was a big battery discussion in this section but can not find it.

Side terminal only.
I have to have a side terminal only battery.
If this were a new car I would buy a Optima or Orbital and cut off the top terminal post and make it fit. Since this car already has acid damage, from a Delco battery, I can not see paying $135.00 and then hack saw the top post.

Its a W body with the tank over the battery... I never liked that set up... But...
Ron, if you have to get a decent batter... Go with Die Hard, Energizer, Duralast, Everstart and the like.... These batteries are made by Johnson Controls... I have been using the Everstarts sold at Wally world for the last 8 years or so... Shortest live I ever got out of one was 4 years and that was the cheapest one that had... 2 of my cars have the Everstart Maxx, and the other a Duralast Gold... Price them and see whos cheaper... Next time you are at Wal-Mart go to automotive and see how much tyhe Maxx costs... Good Luck

Ron,
I highly recommend Interstate Batteries. I have used them for years and they were the ones that would last in the Arizona heat. They also make the OEM battery under contract for Lexus.
Their website has the vehicle application information and also your nearest store or distributor.
