Default Driving Noise

My 1996 Bonneville SE has developed a noise while driving. It is coming from the front driver’* side wheel. It almost sounds like there it is a piece of plastic or something rubbing against the tire. It starts to become noticeable around 40 mph becomes louder when turning right and softer when turning left. I have checked for anything rubbing inside the wheel wail, checked the brakes and rotated the tires (just in case it was tire noise). I was thinking it might be the bearing or CV joints but nothing was loose when I had the car jack up and the car still drives smooth it just has this noise. Any Ideas? Please Help!

From what you're describing, it sounds like a bad hub. The bearing is part of the hub assembly and can not be replaced separately.

Bad hub. More precisely, it'* a bad wheel bearing, and the bearing race is part of the hub, so you need a new wheel hub. My 97 SE left front one went when the car was around 4 years old. My wife'* 2001 Grand Prix left front one went last week. Always seems to be the left front, for some reason.

Anyway, they're pretty easy to do yourself, and you can either get new ones or pick up used ones from a salvage yard.

agreed its a wheel beearing...i had my Front drivers go bad on me.....its an expensive part to replace....about $130

OK, Now I have a bigger problem. I bought a new hub and was installing it. Well..... I stripped the one of the holes out. I will call around the local junk yards to see if I can find a piece but I am not sure what that part is called? It is the part that the brake caliper, hub, strut and tie rod end attaches to. I some how turned a nice and easy job into something really big. :(
