Did you do that to stop a leaking windshield?

I'm not sure if the windshield is leaking or not - but it looked mighty suspicious. This was my first guess as to why the floorboard - primarily driver'* front was soaked to the bone and why the car reaked when I got it. I didn't even think about the door gaskets at the time.

I had a leaking windshield on my old Pontiac Safari Wagon and doing this ATV rig-job seemed to work, or at least help.

You should have said you're a JY guy. I thought you might be very discriminating about the quality of your fixes. Nothing wrong with that, it just doesn't fit into my current plans of money preservation, and still have 3 swell cars for the family.

I see Mike showed with the RTV. It'* the ducttape of Bonneville ownership. On my '96, both back doors were just starting to pull at the corners. RTV did just fine. I'm planning to build a retirement home out of brick and RTV.

While we are talking about RTV.... I forget... does your LSS have a chrome edge (rain gunnel) as part of the roof above your doors? Over time it seperates away a tiny fraction of an inch, and you can get water down your A,B or C column, which of course pools on the floor. RTV on them, too. Just be tidy with the application and it'* unnoticeable. Your water problem might be rain getting in a separation in that seam, streaming down the driver window channel on the A column, and coming out on the driver'* floor.

If you need parts for your engine and ancillary systems, go to RockAuto'* website. Go into their catalog for your year of LSS and select the part. It will bring up their replacements by part manufacturer (often including Delphi/ACDelco). If you click on a part number, it will tell you yr and model of all H-Body which use the same part. That way, when you go to the yard, you have not only LSS'* to pick from, but also LeSabres, Bonnevilles, etc.

My cars look like Bonnevilles, but they are actually 20% LeSabre and LSS.

Oh yeah, I've been known to be junkyard dog. Probably because I've never had a new car in my life. Never had a car payment either though .

I've primarily owned classic Detroit Iron for daily drivers. I have owned 4 classic Mercury Cougars, and a '72 Pontiac Luxury LeMans. For a few years, my wife drove the '69 Cougar and I drove the LeMans -- our only two cars. Up until recently I drove an '88 B-body Pontiac Safari wagon- a survivor in really good shape. Tough times meant selling both the Cougar and the wagon. Other than the Cougars, I have always been a fan of B-O-P A-body and G-body rides.

Now we have 2 cars of 1994 vintage-- both gifts. My folks gave us their true survivor '94 Chrysler Concorde. This LSS was left to me by the family of a friend who passed away at the beginning of Jan. I had helped him with it before, so now I'm really getting familiar with it.

Speaking of which... I have wondered if there was supposed to be some sort of weather stripping where the gunnel/ typical place where old-school drip rail would be. There is nothing there, just a consistent gap, though that top edge is painted black, and it seams there should be a black rubber strip in there. I don't think there was ever any chrome involved. I wasn't sure if this was a kooky design meant to draw the water in, just to channel it out/down at back window or what??? I forgot to study the wrecked '98 88 I pulled the door gaskets from- I was too excited about the gaskets!

Regarding RockAuto, I have used them quite a bit in the past. I have noticed that their prices have crept up somewhat but they are still very reasonable.
