Default Door switch brain teaser

While awaiting a look at Randmans 97 fsm...here'* a teaser for all of you. I pulled apart my drivers front door last night to replace the glass to find near the lower bottom back of the door a ??? switch I think??? with black and white wires. It'* black plastic w/a slider on it. Looks to belong to either the latch or handle but is currently tied to the door.

Do not assume this door is original since I am replacing scratched glass that could not have been scratched inside this door...nothing is there to scratch it. As well the emblem is higher on the outside of the door than it should be and part of this car has been painted.

Just to the right of the rusted piece of metal

The slider in our picture below is on the right and would slide up and down with the orientation of the picture

Any ideas or definates? My 95 FSM doesn't show it and I'll be seeing Randy later on.

I'm at a loss....strange indeed! My 96 FSM is up in MA so it isn't going to help too much.

I actually enjoy trying to figure out what stuff does. I would be glad to, but I wouldn't be able to drive down there.

I knew i've seen that before. I went to my garage and found it on one of my old handles.

I think it triggers the interior lights to come on when you pull the door handle.

We have a winner! And a big thanks for showing me how to put it on once I can. How do you take the handle out in one piece like that?

Cool! There ya go Bill, gotta love it....

My interior lights work about 75% of the time when I flip the handle. I wonder how that became disconnected in your car??

No problem. It was gonna bother me if i couldn't figure it out cause it looked really familiar.
I really can't remember how i got them out. I'm pretty sure it'* nothing special just the two bolts?
