Did a fuel pressure test today and its running at 41 psi ?
about 41 psi, it goes to 48 when you turn the key on then drops back about 5 psi then when running it stays at 41 untill you rap the gas then jumps to like 50. Question is is this about normal or is she getting weak ?

Are you sure you bled the FP tester enough to ensure there was no air in the tester?
yup why ? I tested the park vave and that was 45 - 47 psi
Many times people don't purge all the air out and the reading will look low. I wanted to double check that before saying that it looked a little lower than the spec.
what should it be for a 98 Bonie and a 99 Park ? Thanks Bill I read a previous post that said 38 psi was normal ?
Hold the presses.
The FP test for my 97 Bonne says to key on over and over as you bleed the air out of the FP tester. Then key on a few more times to achieve the highest pressure. Leave it for 10 minutes and see if it bleeds down. 47-52 is acceptable if I remember correctly. |
ok just did a retest; heres the scoop; 1998 Bonnie with 208k miles blead the air turned the key on and off a few times then started it, it stayed at around 42 psi running until you rapped the gas then went to 50 psi. Disconneceted FPR line an ran it and it went to 51 psi.
1999 park Ave with 70k ran at 44 psi roughly then 52 psi with the FPR disconnected, now whcha thinkin' ? Thanks Bill  |
Just got off the phone with BIll and read him your latest test. He said do the test with key on then off WITHOUT starting it and report back.
with key on and bleed the line then off and back on its around 48 psi, is that how he wanted me to do it ?
That sounds like the right process, and IIRC, 48psi sounds about right. Boost will be back on eventually, to verify
