Default Creaky wiper motor

I haven't had to use my wipers for more than occasional washer runs for several weeks. It was raining to day. First, I noticed I could feel the wipers change direction at the bottom of the sweep through the brake pedal. Then I noticed a creak when they changed direction. Is this a loose mounting issue or a dying motor issue?

No, I haven't tried to jiggle the motor yet.

Maybe

That'* about the best we can probably tell you w/o any diagnosis on your part. It'* also possible it'* a wiper transmission going bad. That'* the armature situation under the cowl.

Before thinking about replacement, I would check the wiper transmission and make sure the grease on the plastic knuckles arent dried up. They can snap on and off to inspect.

Oops, forgot about my own thread.

I checked it out. The motor visibly moves some, and the creaking sounds more like 3 or 4 clicks when I've got my ear next to it. The sound comes from the main body of the assembly.

It'* a tough one to say where the actual issue is. If the sound comes from the motor, it'* probably the motor. However the transmission is a built in weak point of the system.

Do the motor and transmission look like one unit together or is the transmission hiding behind it somewhere?
