Default Cranks great, won't actually start though.

This is a new one...in the '98 SSEi, the starter is cranking like crazy, but the engine won't turn over. The only thing which has been wierd lately, 3 weeks ago, i let it sit for 3 weeks and had to jump the battery, been running fine ever since. I just drove and turned it off yesterday. There was nothing going on. It just wouldn't kick over today.

I put in fresh plugs, tested the wires, tested the primaries and secondaries on the coils. The battery is low at 13, but it still turns, and I also jumped it off of the SE battery at a full 14.4. No dice.

I'm getting 45 psi off of the front of the fuel rail. That'* a little low for a '98, but it has always been that way.

Looked for a vacuum off or pinched, don't see any.

What'* next on the list, and has anybody else had this specific problem?

I'll search around, but I need a hand. Thanks.

try taking the air box off while trying to start... if u have spark, fuel, compression and air it should start

Here'* what you said.

I put in fresh plugs, tested the wires, tested the primaries and secondaries on the coils.
All good things to do. However, you failed to do one simple test, and I'm willing to guess when you do the test, it will fail. And that is check for spark. Take a old plug, put it in the spark plug wire and lay the plug on a good ground. Then have someone turn the engine over. No spark, start checking the ignition system.

raptor... I took the FWI off, it'* pulling air... Yeah, it could be bad gas, but I haven't put any new stuff in for a week, and it'* been running every day. 8 yrs, 3 Bonnevilles... I usually come up with really bizarre, unusual stuff. It is time to put a bottle of water remover in the tank, though.

Danthurs, You're killin' me. I'm guessing I have to do all of them?

'cause some of them are firing, to turn the belts. It'* doesn't seem like there is a miss, the engine would look like it'* going to jump out of the mounts.

You don't need to check every plug wire, but I guess it wont hurt either. If any are not firing, make a note of that and see if they are on the same coil.

Dan.... I got sparks off of 1,3, & 5 and have to stop for now.

Whenever I change the fuel filters, I take out the fuel pump fuse. then I crank the line as dry as possible so I don't get doused. That is exactly how this seems, when I crank the engine.

When it'* at key-ON, I get 45 psi,... when it is trying to turn over it'* at 51 psi, which is exactly right. The 45 is a little low for a '98, but, as I say, it'* always been that way.

So the pump is pressuring correctly, I have at least half of the cylinders sparking, there'* should be at least some air getting through. First thing tomorrow, I'm going to test the circuit on one of the injectors.

Is there anything going on in the system which could shut off all of the injectors? Thanks.
