Default Cradle Mounts... Check them!!!

If you have not checked your cradle mounts, do it today!

My rear outer mounts were totally gone and the cradle was being held up by one of the inner rear mounts. I got very lucky that my steering started to act up and I noticed it before my cradle dropped out. I was able to get dealer price for the new mounts. Works out to $55 for each mount. I only replaced the 2 outer mounts and put new retainers on the inner rears. The front were both fine. This could have been a really big problem had that last mount broke.

Now that it is fixed, I don't know how I did not notice it. Drives like a new car now.

How difficult was it to replace the mounts?

Easy, I had a floor jack under the middle of the cradle. I used the jack handle to pry the cradle away from the frame enough to slip the new upper mount parts in. Then I used a jack to compress the lower mount into the upper mount. Put the bolt in and tighten and your done. Very easy. No I have been told that some times you have to knock what it left of the old mount out of the cradle but I did not have to do this as there was nothing left.

What are the cradle mounts? The subframe bushings? Upload a picture if you can.

Where did you buy yours? I hear that they tend to be a pricey dealer-only item.

Well, I thought I had it fixed... The lower bushing pulled through the cradle hole. This allowed the cradle to drop about 2 inches. I searched all over and found some big washers. I put the washer able the lower bushing to keep it from pulling through. So far it seems to be working.
