Default Cost to convert AC at the Dealership

I've used the search to find an answer to the following question, but any of the posts I looked at were primarily for the "do it your self person". That ain't me.

How much should I expect to pay at the dealer to have my 92 bonni'* a/c retrofited to use the new freon (assuming no major components need replaced, e.g. the compressor)?

Thanks.

Default Freeze 12

You don't need to convert anymore. Try using freeze12. it'* supposed to better than R134 and can be used in the old Freon systems. Don't even have to empty the old freon, it mixes with it fine.

Look on eBay under freeze 12.

i had converted mine about a year ago, becaue i just replaced the evaproator core.....(grrrrrrrrrr) but anyways, i retrofittted the rest of the system, with the new o rings, and a new reciver dryer(a must) and the dealer on the otehr hand wanted about 250 bucks......... the freeeze 12 stuff i havent heard about untill the previous post, you can give the stuff a try, its looks intresting and will, work with your system,

definatly convert of get the freeze 12 stuff, by law the dealer isnt suposed to fill your leaking systtem with R-12 untill they fix and find the leak, besides R-12 (50 bucks a pound) R-134 (14 bucks a pound)

I just purchased this kit of Freeze Freon on ebay. (One of these links should work)

FREEZE 12 FREON 12 Replacement 1 Car Kit"COMPLETE"
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

I am not a mechanic and my experience with cars is pretty much limited to the following:

Change the oil and filter
change spark plugs
I used to own a 73 Nova and cleaned and set the points a long long time ago.

Is the process assocaited with recharging my AC system difficult? Does anyone have a link that provides detailed instructions that may help me through this process?

Lastly, is it correct that the old R-12 freon does not not need to be evacuated from the system before the new is added.

Thanks!

Default Freeze 12

I just finished adding the freeze 12 to my 91 Lumina Z34 about 3 weeks ago and it works great!!! Very cold. Mine was completely empty because of a leaking schraeder valve on the filler nozzle. Just added 2 cans of the stuff and viola. cold air.

Filling your A/C is a very simple project. Just find the low side port (someone will have a picture), and use the hose that comes with the kit (hopefully). Then start the car and turn on the A/C full blast and empty the can(*) into the system. If the compressor doesn't come on at ALL, you have to jump the pressure switch to manually engage the compressor. That'* easy too and only requires a paper clip. The instructions are very clear in most retrofit products.

I just got the directions and it seems a bit more compicated than I expected. It instructs to remove all of the existing old r-12 with a vacuume pump or it will cause damage.
