Coolant Question
Hello all, I have a quick question relating to coolant. I recently had the water pump in my 96 Bonneville SE replaced. When I picked it up the mechanic remarked that I had the wrong coolant in it. I have green coolant instead of orange dex-cool that is apparently supposed to be in there. Now as long as I have had the car it has had the green coolant in there. Is this ok? Should I really go and flush the radiator and replace with dex-cool? Or is it more or less inconsequential?

Your fine with green coolant. DEX is what the car came with, and the warning label is there because you can't mix DEX with green. It turns black and sludgy. But a good coolant flush the green will be just fine.
Ah, ok. thank you very much. I was worried that the wrong kind of coolant could have some detrimental effects to the cooling system if it was made for dex-cool specifically. I'm not all that well versed when it comes to auto issues.
Yes thank you for that I found out that today, the guy I bought the car off of poured in green with the orange dex cool and now the sludge is causing my car to act wierd. Heater not working service engine soon light..etc... How much would a coolant flush typically cost at a repair shop? What price range should I be looking for.
