I have a 1998 Bonneville that has started to leak a small amount of coolant inside the car on the passenger side, it also smells like coolant when turning on the ac. It has had the water pump replaced, the ac worked on numerous times(thank god it'* working in this humid hot Missouri summer).

I am thinking it is the heater core, what I am wondering is what is involved in changing this out and how much is it going to cost? I don't want to even try and tackle it myself. Love the car for the most part otherwise.

Overall it isn't a bad swap. Depending on the model you have, it is slightly easier or harder. Overall though the heater box inside is fairly easy to get at and get the core out. Hardest part of the job is getting the heater hoses off the heater core as they are located in the super tight area behind the strut tower on the passenger side.

My suggestion would be to cut them off the core and replace the hoses. We could probably justify it easily due to mileage or age of the car.
