Default Cluster/fuel gauge question

does anyone know if the clusters from 97-99 will work in the older say 96-95 cars? The fuel gauge scale changed from 0-90 ohms in 96 to 33-240 ohms in 97 or 98. But the PCM takes this signal in and sends out another to the cluster on the later cars. I'm trying to find out if this PCM signal will drive a 0-90 omh fuel gauge normally. I can't find any info on what the PCM signal sends out to the cluster, only what the sender'* resistance is. Thanks

I can confirm that a 97-99 cluster did not work in my 95 SSEi. The gas gauge was just pegged.
