Default Climate Control, Tried Searching all of forum already.

I apologize for posting this question cuz it HAS been covered already. But I honestly have not read a single reply that answers the actual problem. So here goes...

My 1996 SSEi, with 38,000 original miles is confused... When I want cold air... I get hot. And when I get hot... I get cold. Sometimes I can turn the car off and start again and it MIGHT work properly. People have mentioned the flashing digital display. Yup, I got that too. I'm not the greatest wrench turner, so I cant just get under there and start fiddling with stuff I'm unsure about ok? So for the gazillionth time people have asked about it.. can i get a clear response that I can understand? Its no fun getting into the car at 3am after work when its 30 degrees outside and get cold air like its summertime. LOL

Thanx much
Brian

Oh man that ones even beyond me...confused

Although it does sound like your AC programmer could be the culprit ....

The AC programmer is the brain box for your Auto Climate Control that controls the various HVAC components.

One thing you may try is use your 'Auto' mode. Set it to full hot and give it a chance to warm up the cabin.

Also have you ever cleaned your cabin temp sensor? A dirty cabin temp sensor will confuse the AC programmer and could possibly give you the results you've been having.

Using compressed air blow out the little vent in the dash panel right below the dash cig lighter. The temp sensor is located there.

Next up pull out the glove box insert. This is 4-5ish 7mm screws. Once it'* out there is a solid frame like bar in front of you. On the bar there is a hole or two on the left side. Use a flashlight and look in there. See the white arm with silver rod. That'* the airmix actuator. Start the car and let it run for a minimum of 45 seconds. Then set the heat to full hot. Does the arm move smoothly? Now set it to full cold, watch the arm again. The arm should take a moment or two in it'* movements...but the movement should be smooth. If movement is not smooth, most likely you need a new airmix actuator.
