Default CLIMATE CONTROL FAN NOT BLOWING

I have a '97 SSEi. the climate control system works perfectly...heat comes out...a/c comes out.....everything works except the fan. it sometimes blows air...and sometimes it doesn't this is not because of the auto climate system...because it won't work even in manual mode and i have it turned up really high (to like 90 degrees). it seems as thought it'* a vacuum prob. since wen i really jump on the gas, the fan occasionally wakes up and blows at whatever manual setting i have it set to. also, sometimes when i pump the brakes, it will all of the sudden come on. again, i have been running it in MANUAL mode...NOT auto....i understand that when it is set to auto, the fan speed controls itself. so, after all that...any ideas? it'* cold in michigan.....so i'd like to ge this fixed :?

Is the blower motor running? Can you hear air being circulated? What exactly is the problem: Is it coming out of the wrong vents or no vents at all (vacuum problem), or is the blower motor cutting in and out (electrical problem)?

the blower merely cuts in and out (like you said). when it actually is working...it blows air properly. here are some more wierd clues...i already said that occasionally when i pump the brakes, it pops back on...and when i jump on it it will occasionally pop back on....also, today i noticed that i will come back on if i am turning left! go figure. it consistently did it! very weird.

That'* a tough one! It sounds electrical, which means you'll have to start testing and probing the connections from the HVAC programmer to the fans. Maybe someone else is familiar with this problem.

yup...after some more testing today...it really seems like it'* electrical. the fan speed changed occasionally when i merely flipped on my headlamps....and then flipped them off. willren says that it may be the electronic controller for the climate control system...but he'* still investigating....sherlock will .....hmmmm. we'll see! in any case...i absolutely LOVE this car!!!!!

had the same problem with mine. Went over a bump and it would start running. Tap on motor with a pliers, and it would go. Ended up having to replace motor. Dead spot in it.

really? no kidding! my fan will sometimes run at a lower speed than i have it set to. it'* not always just on or off....does that descrive what you had? it would be neato if it was merely the fan!
