how can you tell on the climate control display if the ac is on ??? (i didnt get an owners manual))

from what i can tell, unless the display says "econ," there is a possibility your compressor could be running, at least when ambient temperature is above a certain point.

Also, the system will not blow cooled air unless it shows air directed toward the middle vents.

so basically with this sytem you cant manually turn on your ac it'* just automatic??

No, that'* not correct. In order to get COLD air in the summer (from your AC), you must put it in AUTO. That'* AC. Then adjust the temp down. It won't run the compressor in ECON.
