Jet has a performance chip for the 1989 Grand Prix 3.1L. If you have the same engine, it will most likely fit. Give us more details since I am not familiar with the pre 92 years.

Before 1992 there was no such thing as a 3800, just a 3.8.
Oh and jr, its much longer than 2 inches!
