Default Check engine light, but nothing seems wrong

I just had the check engine light come on, but the car is running fine. I noticed that it doesn't idle quite as smooth as before, but nothing that would concern me if it wasn't for the light. Temp and oil pressure are normal. What might be causing it?

there could be 10000 different things causing the light

go to autozone or advance and get a free code reading....write down the code and report back here with the code number

Some codes (for emissions as an example) can throw the light and yet the car doesn't show any signs of operating poorly. Definitely find out the code and we can go from there.

That was the first thing I did, and they're both good.

Ok before you head out to AZ (Auto Zone) to get it tested, check to make sure your gas cap is tight. Sometimes those Full Service stations are so in a rush they dont tighten them all the way.

It'll be something fun...like a P0171 Lean Bank One or something else...

Never seems to effect performance because the PCM compensates for it..but it'* there...

We've got fixes for most of these fun codes.. get the code only..don't buy parts and tell us the magic codes.
