EGR Valve
ok, i'm getting the Oil changed and the guy tells me that the EGR valve isn't hooked up and asked if the check engine light was on. well, it wasn't on so i don't kow whats up. Why would someone unhook the EGR valve? it seems to run just fine but i don't know if it could have any long term effects.

Makes no sense. Did he point it out to you on the engine? Maybe he mistaken something else for the EGR...
Although..everything should be hooked up.

thats what i thought too, he showed me himself, and he showed me the connector that should be hooked up to it. now i can't say for certin that it is the EGR valve, i'm taking his word on that. i know Jeep engines inside and out but this 3800 is foreign to me.
standing in front of car, its on the front right side of the engine, its got a spot for the connector on top and cant be much bigger then a can of soup.

I'm at a loss...lol.. I sold my series 1 and my memory went with it. Uh..yes..it is up front...there is a corregated looking pipe going to it from the front exhaust manifold.

95 was the first year for series 2 NA motors. Being SC 95 is the last year for the Series 1 SC motor.
(I just sold my 95 SSEi... never spent as much time under the hood as my S2 97)

if i was to just hook it up whats the worst that could happen? all it does is control the flow of exhaust gasses into the intake, so it would just run horrible if its broken I think... I would hate to mess with this and screw up something more in the engine. one of those if it aint broke don't fix it things...

It shouldn't break by you hooking it up. It might already be bad and set a check engine light. as a preventative measure, buy an EGR gasket.
Then remove the EGR valve and gently push on the pintle valve (black thing) underneath to see if it'* free moving or not. I used carb cleaner to remove some carbon and reinstalled. Works great.
