Changing oil in */C
So I went to the dealer to get the 2 bottles of */C oil at 10.25 a bottle and the parts guy tells me "there is no reason to change it,,Ever"
Any thoughts on this. I was always brought up to maintain something if you want it to last and i am a firm believer in that idea.
I have also heard that Mobil 1 5W-30 is Ok to use (thanks Danthurs) so that is like 1/4 the cost of my local stealership

The reason the dealer says theres no need to change the */C oil is because if it craps out on you they want you to head to them.... trust me
Had an ford escort and the dealer told me you dont need to change the tranny oil, well let just say im gonna use my own instincts from now on

My Aunt bought a NEW ford focus and took it to the dealership she bought it from for its first oil change at 3000 miles... they told her no that it would VOID the warranty if done before the 100,000 miles... had a 100,000mile warranty and stated that you were not to change ANY fluids until that point.
I told her to listen to them and let the engine go out and take it to them and make them replace it under THEIR warranty... she said no and had me change it lol
Its amazing what dealership will do

Remember, they will hire anyone. The auto parts places are no better. Heck, I couldn't even get a interview. What does that tell you? I guess telling them I have 30+ years of experience, went to school, and have my own shop wasn't the best idea.

Mobile 1 Synthetic is the only oil, other than SC Oil; that has been noted as approved for SC snouts in 92-93 H bodies. The SB is located here https://www.gmforum.com/t278817/
