Default Changed UIM/LIM still smokin'

My 98 bonnie, 140K mi, stalled and was hydro-locked.
I changed out the UIM/LIM gaskets, but she'* still idling rough and white smoke in the exhaust. Now it'* locked again.
I guess it'* the head gasket.
How much more involved is it to change the head gaskets than the UIM/LIM?
I have good mech ability, but not alot of automotive experience.

Or is there another diagnosis that I may be missing?
Thanks

I can bet you with 10,000:1 odds it'* not your head gasket.

Did you REPLACE the UIM with a Dorman, APN, or some other unit? You're on borrowed time here. After hydrolocking twice from this, the bottom end of your engine is likely to fail. Drain your oil immediately to POSSIBLY save it.

Even if your UIM looked OK around the EGR bore, the plastic may be extremely degraded, and allowed coolant to rush back in. I'm with Bill...extremely likely that'* what happened if you reused the old UIM.
