Ok, was looking at various posts and whatnot... Got me to thinking... cars been running rough for a while now... drives well but idles rough, makes a pop, ima have to get a video so you know what my torture is...
it was doing this when my father had it but shes starting to get ALOT WORSE... and after a min or so of sitting idle it gets bad and only gets worse as she sits
now when i was fixing the exhaust a couple weeks back i removed the throttle body, and it was blackened with carbon build up
about 2 yrs ago when i got the car this is what it looked like

now i cleaned her up and put the TB back on, and a couple weeks ago i pulled it off and it was the same way again not as bad as 2 yrs ago but still pretty bad. Now a friend seems to think the pop is a fuel build up, that its running lean or rich for some reason and its causing a backfire internally... would that result in the carbon build up or is it something else???
im looking into getting another car, want a v8 camaro, so i can put my beloved in the garage and pull the motor and build her up, or do a series 2 l67 swap hehe but i need her to last til i can get another ride... will try to get a video posted this weekend so you all can shutter in silence with me...
it sad
its ok tho, it can only go up from here

The build up changes the size of the opening, as well as change where the butterfly sits and this changes the TPS. Also effects the smooth flow of air. All this will effect how it runs. Pull the TB, remove the MAF and clean it up real good.
The buildup is most likely caused by the location of the EGR tube. Exhaust gasses contain a decent amount of carbon etc and the EGR tube is typically right behind the throttle body in most of the 3800 motors. When the TB plate is close..the EGR is frequently flowing and being pushed off the TB plate.

ok so with my series 1 is most likely the build up is normal over time... i cleaned it already but it still builds up over time... was worried it was something bad...

That'* why you see "clean the TB" all over the forum.
