I have a spare chip out of my old computer, of which the capacitor fried. Anyone think it would be worth the effort of changing it out ? If so, should this be done with the battery disconnected? Also, is there any specific procedure to erase any codes ? I used a cheap scantool , and found no codes in the memory.

Finally got a chance to swap out the mem-cal, and it started right up. Thanks to everyone for all of the help I received.
