Default Car starts then shuts off....

Once in a while after i shift my car into drive, it will shut off as soon as i hit the gas. It then takes me a couple attempts to start it back up. What could be causing this?

We've had the same eratic issue with our 99. It'* happened maybe 5 times in the 105K miles we've owned it. Very odd, and very tough to troubleshoot. But, ours will start right back up like nothing happened.

Off the top of my head here...

I'm wondering if the PCM is seeing something from the shifter that is telling it to stall the car.

My 98 did the same thing, I would start the car and before I could put it into drive it would stall. Restart and no problems. This got worse and the car would shut off when coming to a stop or making a slow turn. I had the fuel pressure regulator changed and the problem has stopped. I hope this helps.

Default FPR

Pull the vacume hose to your FPR. If you smell gas, the diaphram is shot.
Also remove and clean the IAC valve. I suspect it could be sticking.
