Way cool. Keep us posted until you're at 100%. I'd like to see all the contributing factors. I'm still wanting to see your plug wires changed, too. They can feel just like an old fuel filter when they get bad.

I will change the plugs and wires. I'm going to order some Taylor wires, so it will take some time for me to get them. I'll get a new air filter, plugs and fuel injector cleaner to put in the gas tank today. (Just the FI cleaner goes in the tank, not the filter and plugs) I'll try to get the filter and plugs replaced today, not sure if I'll have time. I have a new front wheel bearing and axle shaft to replace this weekend too. Think I'll order a new O2 sensor too.

Anybody have a favorite fuel injector cleaner to put into the tank? Thanks again.

Just an update on my car shuddering under load. I replaced the fuel fulter, PCV, air filter, AC O2 sensor, AC regular plugs and ran a couple tanks of gas with Gumout fuel injector cleaner in them. I've got Taylor plug wires ordered, but they aren't in yet.

The car still shudders at times under load, but not as bad as it did. So the above items helped a little, but didn't cure the problem. Guess it'* still in the tranny somewhere.

I've had the car for 22,000 miles, and it did it when I bought it, so I'm not too worried about it. Thanks for the suggestions.

Try changing your tranny fluid and filter. This might get your car to 100%. In my old tranny I had a shudder problem and when I changed my fluid , problem was solved ! Unfornately it blew up two weeks later....

Same thing happend to my car. I could have sworn it was the tranny.. but it just ended up being the spark plug wires. What was happening is when the car was under a lot of load, and pumping alot of gas into the cylenders, one of my spark plugs didn't have enough spark to fire all the gas. Thus the shuttering under a lot of load. Made my v-6 into a 5 and a half.

I had the same problem, swore for years it was the tranny but I read that the ignition system on these cars is too weak for the supercharger, so I bought new plugs and closed up the gap to 0.45" and the shudder went away.

For what its worth, when I had a broken spark plug, I could not get the car above 50mph. From 0-50 you wouldn't even notice. Once you hit about fifty, the car started jerking and I couldn't get it any higher. I had broken one of six new plugs when I put them in.

If there is an AutoZone near you they will scan the car for free. Provided your SES is on.

Default Me too

I am experiencing the same thing in my 93. Mostly happens during highway driving when I come up on hilly terrain. It feels like the engine is trying to hop out from under the hood. Taking my foot off the gas or stepping on it will make it stop. It'* pretty unnerving when it happens, but mine has been doing it for a year and I just keep on driving. I figured that it is transmission/torque converter related and therefore too expensive to fix. I'll try the tune up first, but it just seems too simple.
thanks,
Detlef
