i had this happen, the battery was fine wires where fine
after someone turning the key while i was under the car with a hammer and taping it then it cranked. My solution:
took out starter and inside the bell housing their is a gear that rides a shaft, apply grease
(i used marine grease or any high temp grease ) to shaft then connect a lead for the neg to the battery then connect a lead to the pos (BUT DO NOT CONNECT THE POS TO THE BATTERY only neg)
then tap the pos lead a few times to the battery(HOLD THE STARTER TIGHT IT WILL JUMP) to get the gear greased on the shaft then install the starter back in.

Never had a problem since then

Forget the GM part. You don't want to pay shipping on that heavy part, and you'll miss out on the core charge. Go to the local parts store, and tell them you need a starter for a 92 SSEi. Get a warranty unit.

You'll need your axle ratio of course, so find that thru the RPO codes, also supercharged, then pick the best one. Bosch isn't the best in these cars but a starter might.

the cheapest one that has a warranty, that'* right for a 92 SSEi with your gear ratio.
