Of the two 92 Bonnies I've had my hands on, both have tossed a cam magnet. Still in place on my dad'* 360k 92 Olds 88, though.

I supposedly threw mine. Replaced the sensor, SES is still on, managed to line the cam sprocket up to the sensor hole and VOILA, no magnet it seems. :(

Huh... must be about as common as it is on the Vin C then. Very easy fix on the Vin C, I've done it twice so far.

I would assume the procedure would be almost the same on later versions of the motor too.

Well, looks like I've got a minor adjustment in my engine rebuild, as a precautionary mod since its out.

As mentioned before, caps is considered yelling...

But I don't see any other way for the magnet to be replaced other than pulling the front cover off. I don't think you'd have to drop the oil pan though, however you will need to remove a few bolts that go through the oil pan to the front cover.

I'm assuming the later motors are very similar to Vin C:

The oil pan doesn't have to come off, but if you're taking the front cover off you might as well replace the timing chain and gear, especially if its got lots of miles on it. Pulling the oil pan is generally a good idea though, because you can clean the pick-up screen and the pan of any debris... and ensure that there is no antifreeze in the pan that could have leaked in when you pulled off the front cover.

one more thing.. my car will run without the magnet for about 30 to 40 miles then stall,
after about 1hr it will start up and go for another 30 to 40 miles, will this magnet replacement solve this...

The missing magnet shouldn't cause it to stall.
